Everyone trying to be their best this year to be less indulgent and a bit more healthy? Another month rolls by, and stores are stocking shelves yet again with more holiday goodies. How does one stay sane in an insane world of chocolate marketing bunnies kicking at your backside- how dare they!
Don’t worry. It will be fine. I had the pleasure of getting my hair done a few years back by my fav gorgeous hairstylist, yoga instructor, model, new mommy, and friend Sierra. Any trip to the hair salon makes you one smart cookie. You ladies know what I mean, you chat about all the things in the world that need changing. And yes, she had the answer to what I am going to call the fake your husband into liking homemade protein bars. Crazy, I know, deceiving your loved one to be better?
Here is the recipe she gave me. But here is the kicker. My husband thinks they are No Bakes. So I lovingly call them No Guilt, No Bakes. (Brilliant, eh?)
Chock full of chocolate goodness with all-natural yummy protein filling you up, so you don’t crave those nasty processed chocolates that have been sitting in a box for months before they hit store shelves.
no guilt no bakes
Yield 12 or 24 squares
- 3 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup chocolate protein powder
- 3/4 cup agave syrup
- 1 cup natural peanut butter
- 1/8 cup chia seeds
- 1/4 cup cocoa nibs (do not omit, these make them awesome!)
- 1 cup ground flaxseed
Mix well in a big bowl. Spread onto a parchment lined bar pan (mine was 9x12) and pressed down firmly. Put in freezer for 20 minutes. Take out and cut into squares or bars. Stack each onto a liner of wax paper and store in an airtight container in the fridge.
Makes 12 - 416 calories/15 grams protein bars (as in the photo) or 24 squares - 208 calories/7.5 grams
