These tomatoes are the last rays of summer currently hanging on in this early Midwest cold front in my garden. My jalapenos need some love and attention as well, so I figured its time for some salsa making. Forget the store-bought; this one is legit.
PrintGarden Salsa
Description
I couldn’t think of a better way to preserve the left over bits from our Crave Wave Wraps that included 1/2 fresh jalapeño, red bell pepper, green onions, and cilantro. All I needed was tomatoes, more onion, lime, and cumin to make this festive salsa happiness for the fam. I was dancing for joy when I thought this one up. Really, I need a life 🙂
Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh chopped tomato
- 1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper
- 1 small onion chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
- 3 tablespoons lime juice
- 1/2 jalapeno, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- A dash of tabasco sauce
Instructions
Add chunks of tomato, red bell pepper, onion, cilantro, lime juice, and cumin to a food processor. Pulse a few times till the consistency of your liking. You can select your heat level by adding the jalapeño a few pieces at a time while pulsing in the food processor and tasting along the way. Add the splash of tabasco at the end if you want. We like ours on the caliente side. Go hot or not, this salsa goes best with our preferred On the Border brand of chips and a refreshing MW+GF blood orange jalapeño margarita.
Notes
We like our salsa restaurant-style and not chunky. Whirl up in a food processor till desired consistency.
